Role of Technology in The Development Sector at LUMS

*DESCRIPTION:* * * *Mr. Nabeel Akmal Qadeer, COO & Co-Founder, Technopsis ( http://www.technopsis.com.pk) was invited by the International Islamic Microfinance Network to speak on the Role of Technology in the Development Sector of Pakistan, with special focus on the Microfinance Industry. The event took place on January 19, 2011 at the Lahore University of Management Sciences, in collaboration with the SEDC, LUMS. The audience had representatives and senior officials from the State Bank of Pakistan, all major Microfinance NGOs (In Lahore & Islamabad), and some Commercial Banks respectively. Mr. Qadeer's talk revolved around having one consolidated portal for all members of the network to share their information, experiences and documentation on. He emphasized the need to standardize operations across all Microfinance based bodies based in Pakistan - And the means to do so, was through collaborating over a fully functional web portal. The talk was appreciated and applauded by all, with several NGOs requesting similar talks to be held at their respective offices in order to create awareness about moving forward. *
